Activities - St. Joseph's B. H. S. S., Calicut.

The School is divided into 4 houses, namely Gandhi, Nehru, Tagore and Prasad to encourage group activities. Points are awarded to each student for participation in sports and cultural activities. Negative points will be marked for indiscipline.

Class Tests
Class tests Apart from quarterly and half yearly examinations, the concerned teachers will conduct class tests every month. The students of Xth and XIIth are given extra care and their progress is closely monitored.
Parent Teacher Association
The P.T.A. is the backbone of St. Joseph's. Parents working closely with students and staff, actively participate in every activity of the school. P.T.A. meetings are conducted each term. Adv. T. Jayaraj is the P.T.A. President.
Clubs & Organizations
National Service Scheme More than 100 volunteers from the Higher Secondary Section are always ready for service. Mr. Binu Francis is its programme co-ordinator. Every year a 10 day residential camp and several mini camps are conducted on its behalf. National Cadet Corps 100 Cadets form our group. Mr. M.V. George is its first officer. Our cadets attend the state level and National level integration camps. CareerTrack CareerTrack - Career Guidance and Counselling Centre is a place where our students find solutions for their career related questions. Lead by Mr. Harilal M. & Mr. Johnson P., this club conducts career related seminars and workshops. Various press notifications regarding further courses, books on personality development, etc. are provided here. Junior Red Cross Mr. Sunil Jose guides the J.R.C. J.R.C. volunteers collect old clothes for distribution to the poor. They help to keep discipline in the school. Scouts Mr. Joby Joseph heads the Scout members. The troop members participate in the various training camps and rallies. Tourism Club Tourism Club helps to inculcate the importance of preserving the heritage of our State in our students. This Club conducts regular tours and is co-ordinated by Mr. Sujith M. Nature Club & O.I.S.C.A. This Club is in charge of greening the School campus. The maintenance of the flowerpots, campaign against using plastic packets in the campus etc. are the work of Nature Club. Mr. Sebastian John leads them. Vidyarangam Kala Sahithya Vedi An association that comes under the Department of Public Instruction, Kerala State, plays the leading role in the literary activities in the campus. It has about 150 members. Mr. C.T. Louis chairs the Club. Philately Club Mr. Roshy Dominic is the inspiring source behind the Club. The Club members have won prizes in the various competitions held at the State and District levels. This Club conducts seminars and workshops at the School regularly. Quiz Club Mr. T.V. John leads and conducts competitions of the Quiz Club. This Club conducts weekly quiz competitions and encourages students to improve their General Knowledge. Our boys have brought glory to the school in several competitions. Kerala Catholic Students League Mr. Jesue George guide the Catholic Students League. Leadership camps, Personality development programmes etc. are conducted All India Catholic University Federation Led by Mr. Joy Sebastian, the Catholic University Federation conducts seminars, training camps etc. for Higher Secondary students. The other active clubs are Gandhi Darshan Club, Interact Club, Tarumitra Club, Maitri Club, Mathematics Club, Science Club and Social Science Club. Apart from, this seminars for career guidance and mock entrance tests are held every year.
